The Tanana Valley State Fair is an annual fair held in College, Alaska, United States. The fair was founded in 1924, making it the oldest state fair in Alaska.
In 2022, the fair celebrates July 29 – August 7.
The Tanana Valley State Fair strives to educate and entertain all participants. It provides opportunities to share a rich variety of individual and community endeavors. The Fair encourages and welcomes involvement by everyone!

The best ice cream in the states is called “The Original Gourmet Ice Cream Bar”. For real. I don’t know, if it’s only done for the fair or if it does exist somewhere in town (Fairbanks), but it’s the BEST I’ve tried in the US. If you’re going to this fair next year – make it your first stop as soon as you’re in.
So we love the fair and all the shops and food vendors. I just wish they had better rides. 30 dollars seems like a great deal for a wrist band and you can ride as many rides as you want but the lines are crazy with wait times as long as 45 minutes per ride.
It’s a small, fun Fair. Watching the cranes fly over at night was great.
